The Mira Costa Rugby Team opened the 2022 season by traveling to San Clemente. The Mustangs gave up an early Try to the Tritons. However, the boys from Costa stiffened their defense and shut down San Clemente for the balance of the match.
Fly Half Van Graw scored two penalty kicks from outside 35 meters to give the Mustangs the lead. Captain Wes Widmer sealed the victory with a Try from 6 meters out. Graw provided the conversion to give Costa a 13-5 win.
